Based in Northern Colorado, duo970 features flutist James Hall and pianist Susie Maddocks in a premier chamber music collaboration. Defined by a profound musical friendship and an equal artistic partnership developed over many years, they have established themselves as one of the most distinguished flute and piano duos performing today.
As champions of new music, the duo has commissioned, premiered, and recorded multiple works for flute and piano. Most recently, they gave the world premieres of pieces written by American composers Stephanie Ann Boyd and Paul Elwood. Recent seasons have included tours of Europe and the United States, where they have performed in intimate venues as well as on concert stages. They recently released a double-LP album of music by Stephanie Ann Boyd entitled “Songbird," which is also available on all streaming platforms.
