Based in Northern Colorado, duo970 brings together flutist James Hall and pianist Susie Maddocks, who have both enjoyed varied and impressive careers. The equal partnership and friendship built throughout the years have made duo970 one of the most highly sought-after duos in the world. These two superstars are masterful at enthralling audiences with their musicality, virtuosity, and chemistry.

As champions of new music, the duo has commissioned, premiered, and recorded multiple works for flute and piano. Most recently, they gave the world premieres of pieces written by American composers Stephanie Ann Boyd and Paul Elwood. Recent seasons have included tours of Europe and the United States, where they have performed in intimate venues as well as concert stages.

James has performed on 6 continents as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, and has taught master classes around the world. He is the professor of flute at the University of Northern Colorado, where he has the pleasure of working with many talented young musicians. Read James’ full bio here. Susie is a longtime collaborative pianist, having performed with great artists from around the world. She is also a singer/songwriter, having had her work recorded and used in a film featured at the Vail Film Festival and North Hollywood CineFest. Susie is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
